Roses Fade
(Cunniff)

With precious scents of summertime
The lightening bugs said you were mind
When I asked you to be kind
I found I had to wait in line

You told me tales of love gone wrong
But who were they to sing along
I know you only love her song
I knew you only love her song

I watched you roses fade away
The wings came off your back today
And I saw all the truth behind
The pretty pictures in my mind

Your angels came a floating down
Your halo it fell to the ground
The flies came swarming into town
And started circling round and round

There was a body lying there
Whose it was I didn’t care
The coffin lay up on the stair
The funeral it was common fare

I watched your roses fade away
The wings came off your back today
And I saw all the truth behind
The pretty pictures in my mind
